Ad Today on KYW: A Message to Members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly

(The following is from our friends at the Children, Youth and Family Council of the Delaware Valley)

Because of the state budget impasse, the funds for services for Pennsylvania’s abused and neglected children are not reaching the private, charitable agencies that keep our children safe and protected. Despite not receiving payment, Pennsylvania’s nonprofit agencies have continued to serve our state’s most vulnerable children in their homes and communities and in foster care and residential programs.

Private agencies have exhausted their resources so that services would not be interrupted. We can no longer continue to deliver services without payment.

We can no longer ask our employees to come into work each day but not be paid. We can no longer afford the interest payments incurred to borrow funds to pay for state mandated services.

We need you to continue your efforts to resolve outstanding differences and finalize a budget. We need a fair budget now and assurances that funds reach private agencies without further delay. 101 days of waiting is long enough.
