A couple raising two young children in Lancaster County needs to earn at least $54,821 a year to survive, nearly three times the income the government says it takes to escape poverty, a new study shows.
The findings paint a dire picture for families whose wages have remained stagnant over the last several years as the cost of everything from groceries to child care to doctor bills has steadily risen, advocates say.
