ARRA OLDER YOUTH WORK READINESS
PathWays PA offers an eight week Work Readiness program for young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who are out of school and looking for an opportunity to earn a salary while receiving on the job training. Once a week each applicant is responsible for attending a skills building class at 310 Amosland Road Holmes Pa, where the applicant will receive educational support in the areas of reading, writing, math and computer skills. Each applicant will have the opportunity to build a professional resume. Class time will also consist of soft skills building and Key Train lessons in preparation for a certificate in Work Keys at the end of the program. PathWays PA will provide counseling and resources for reaching career goals. The cost of transportation is covered by the program.
Eligibility criteria for participation:
Direct a fast-paced North Philadelphia EARN Center that helps TANF participants get and keep family-sustaining employment. Applicant must have solid track record in managing job development, data management and case management services for low-income clients. Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree, Spanish-English fluency and experience with PWDC contracts are strongly preferred. FT, benefits. She/he shall understand the clinical and concrete day-to-day issues that teen girls struggle with and shall posses the knowledge to generate and promote programming to address those issues. She/he shall possess the ability to promote team cohesiveness and foster a non-punitive, strength-based environment. The candidate’s race, age, sex, religion, orientation or state of disability shall not be considered when hiring for this position. BSW or related bachelor's degree is required. Residential Worker:
The Residential Worker shall be a mature individual who has the ability to identify with and adapt to the goals and philosophies of the program. She/he shall possess the skills to teach parenting and problem solving techniques to mothers. She/he shall act as a role model to mothers and children and shall possess the knowledge necessary to interact in a supportive, non-punitive, and non-judgmental manner. Residential Worker/Life Skills Cook:
Experience in bulk food preparation. The cook/kitchen manager shall possess the skills necessary to prepare meals for large groups of people (40-50) and shall have knowledge of nutrition and nutritional meal planning. She/he shall be SafeServ credentialed and have the ability to mandate guidelines. The ideal candidate will understand and follow the USDA mandated guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge, skills and ability to teach life skills and maturity necessary to interact with women and children from various backgrounds. She/he shall be organized, non-judgmental and shall demonstrate good problem solving skills. High School Diploma/GED with nutrition/residential/life skill experience. - Coordinate the planning, preparation, and implementation of the Learning Center direction of Managers in Preparation for PA Licensing.
- Write Curriculum for each age level as well as plan and implement daily lessons/activities.
- Coordinate the activities of the Assistant Group Supervisors and Aids in the Learning Center. Supervise all classrooms.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met within the learning center.
- Enforce all learning center policies and procedures consistently.
- Create and supply Learning Center staff with appropriate forms for program function.
Help out in the Learning Center as required to:
- Supervise and provide physical care for children in the daycare.
- Encourage children to actively participate in educational and structured activities.
- Complete developmental screenings on children. Develop and implement individualized educational goals for children.
