Establishing Health Exchanges as Part of Federal Healthcare Reform

Seattle physician with patient 1999According to an article in the Morning Call, as the federal government this week rolled out the framework for states to establish their own health insurance exchanges, a key element of the federal health care reform law, officials in Harrisburg were still trying to determine if they will set up an exchange at all. Gov. Tom Corbett has been an opponent of the law — as attorney general, he joined a multistate suit to fight the law in federal court — and a spokeswoman from the state Insurance Department says officials haven’t decided whether they’ll recommend developing an exchange for Pennsylvania.
