Federal Policy Updates

REACH OUT TO CONGRESS REGARDING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS

In December, unemployment insurance was set to expire for families still struggling to find work but Congress extended the critical benefit before the year ended. That extension lasts until February 29th.

It is expected that at least one million UI recipients would be cut off of federal benefits in March alone if the program is allowed to expire. Millions more would lose these benefits during the remainder of the year. One study found that every $1 spent on employment insurance stimulated $2 in growth inthe U.S. economy.

Send a message to Congressional Conference Committee members, and to your members of Congress regarding next steps on unemployment insurance.
