Support Earned Sick Days in Philadelphia!
You may have noticed that this flu season has caught the attention of the news media.

CNN Money, 6ABC, Business Finance Magazine, and The Philadelphia Inquirer are among those reporting on the lack of paid sick days. Now, you have the opportunity to do something about it.

On January 24, Philadelphia's City Council will reintroduce The Healthy Families and Workplaces Act, a bill that ensures all workers in Philadelphia can earn up to 7 paid "sick and safe" days each year to be used in the event of illness or domestic violence.

Please join PathWays PA and the Coalition for Healthy Families and Workplaces in ensuring that all workers have the opportunity to care for themselves and their family members in times of illness.  You can join us at City Council on January 24 at 10 AM, sign our petition, call City Council at 215-686-2840, or learn more about the issue at phillyearnedsickdays.com.

Do You Know People Who Can't Afford Their Co-Pay? Share Their Story!
Some former GA recipients have been telling us they are finding it difficult to get the prescription medicine they need.  Because they have lost the cash grant, they don't have the co-pay.

The law is very clear.  The Pharmacy must  provide the medicine even if the patient can't make the co-pay.

If you have a story that will help explain just how difficult life is for those thrown off of GA, please call Lance Haver at (215) 906-6230.  These stories are important to share with legislators and the news media as individuals continue to face problems after the end of GA.

FMLA Extends Care to AdultChildren

The Department of Labor (DOL)
has made an important acknowledgment that a parent's need to care for his or her child lasts beyond the years when the child is a minor.

This new guidance provides needed clarification about when a parent may take leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to care for an adult child, and it will mean that more sons and daughters with disabilities and serious health conditions will be able to get the critical care they need from their parents.
You can read the entire clarification here.

Join CeaseFire PA to Take a Stand Against Gun Violence

Join CeaseFirePA supporters for our Day of Action. Together, we can send a clear message that we won't wait any longer for common sense reforms that create stronger gun laws in our state.
