Sign the Petition! Support the Renaming of the PA Department of Public Welfare!

State Senators Bob Mensch (R-Montgomery) and Jay Costa (D-Allegheny) will introduce legislation that would change the name of the Department of Public Welfare to the Department of Human Services.

The current name is both misleading and stigmatizing. People with physical or intellectual disabilities don't consider themselves as welfare and nor should the state.

The legislation will also be introduced by Representative Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery) in the state House of Representatives.
