Join Us in Building Assets in Pennsylvania!

PathWays PA invites you to join a statewide coalition focused on addressing the needs of low-income Pennsylvanians and the policies that can help them build assets and resources. This coalition will be part of the nationwide Assets and Opportunities Network, a movement-oriented group of advocates, practitioners, policymakers, and others nationwide working to expand the reach and deepen the impact of asset-based strategies. Network members are on the frontlines of state and local policy advocacy, coalition-building and service delivery.

As you may know, PathWays PA is an active, known presence in the areas of policy and advocacy in Pennsylvania. We welcome the opportunity to work with your organization to build a strong, vibrant coalition that will play a key role in creating asset opportunities for your clients and for families throughout the state. The goal is to create a statewide effort, encompassing a broad range of organizations, focusing on issues including but not limited to:

  • Education: Ensuring access to early education, K-12 education, college savings programs, and adult education, as well as offering financial literacy in schools throughout Pennsylvania
  • Workplace: Giving all workers the opportunity to earn fair compensation through a higher minimum wage, improving opportunities for employment, earnings equity, and microenterprise
  • Banking: Increasing opportunities for building and improving credit, access to banking and other tools and strategies that build assets
  • Housing: Increase opportunities for home ownership and decrease foreclosures;
  • Healthcare: Increase insurance coverage within low income populations

The National Assets and Opportunities Network will be a resource for all organizations involved to access data rich information from across the country and statewide on reported figures such as those in the annual Pennsylvania Scorecard (click here for the 2014 version).

The National Network will also provide the Coalition opportunities to share Pennsylvania outcomes nationwide compared to other states to media outlets as the coming year’s Scorecard is developed.

PathWays PA is planning a statewide online networking meeting on December 2 at 3 PM. We hope you will participate in this webinar and join organizations across the state working together in building opportunities for Pennsylvanians on issues that have national appeal, local impact, and positive results for low-income families.
